The role of food in community group support for people living with dementia

Community groups that support people with dementia often aim to involve food in what they offer.
This website draws on learning from the Association for Dementia Studies‘ Food Glorious Food project, which looked at the benefits and challenges of involving food in community group support in different ways, for different people from different backgrounds and circumstances.
Food can be at the heart of opportunities to socialise, maintain skills, celebrate culture and reminiscence. It can also help overcome stigma and encourage people to engage with services that might support them. However, there are challenges to working with food.
Click on the menu on the right for tips on what you might do with food in community group support, what the benefits are, and what you might need to consider. You will also find a link to download copies of our guidance booklet in several languages.
