contribution and participation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bolsters identity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bolsters self-worth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunity for spiritual or cultural expression: Religiously and\/or culturally important to some<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourages purposeful activity outside of the group sessions themselves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoids detrimental effect regarding all of the above that may result from refusing the bringing and sharing of food, which may be very important to some&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What are the risks?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Potential harm and liability for that (allergies, food hygiene issues, unhealthy ingredients)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risk of eating more than is beneficial, nutritional imbalance, disrupting meal routines etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potential offense if food refused<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3ba99fea9700fbed6ca0318865ad3810 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#0c06ff\"><a href=\"#top\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#top\">Return to the top of the page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8d73360277b4020586e18ab480ba3da6\" id=\"learning\" style=\"color:#2e0606\"><strong>Key learning from the Food Glorious Food project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Know your target membership and how important this is to them \u2013 if this is important to them, it\u2019s important to acknowledge\/accommodate this in some way in the group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allowing for sharing of food can seem risky and hard to manage, but potentially has significant benefits for some \u2013 and not allowing for it could actually negatively impact the wellbeing of some<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allowing sharing of food can be done within controlled limits as an effective and valuable compromise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be aware of risk assessment and liability responsibilities however, especially if the group is a paid for service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3ba99fea9700fbed6ca0318865ad3810 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#0c06ff\"><a href=\"#top\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#top\">Return to the top of the page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5bbb16e29480f3eba6bf9d4c5e42d061\" id=\"facilitate\" style=\"color:#2e0606\"><strong>How should we facilitate attendees bringing food to share?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What helps?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Allow within clearly defined limits \u2013 e.g. only on certain occasions, only certain types of food using certain methods or ingredients (with clear guidance\/ suggestions for what might be suitable to bring)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring bringing and sharing is optional, not expected<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018Subtle vigilance\u2019 with regards to managing how what is brought is received<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff\/volunteer awareness of the attendees needs and dietary requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What challenges might we need to think about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managing what is brought \u2013 is it safe or appropriate to offer to group, offered in way that can be monitored safely?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing expectations and responses of those within the group regarding shared food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing dietary requirements\/restrictions (including due to faith).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3ba99fea9700fbed6ca0318865ad3810 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#0c06ff\"><a href=\"#top\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#top\">Return to the top of the page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fc2346eba77410d292a28f549bd3df72 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#0c06ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/foodgloriousfood.on.worc.ac.uk\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2\">Return to the home page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This section covers three main areas: Should we encourage attendees to bring food to share?
